The one thing you need to live a soulful life

Soulful living

What does it actually take to live a soulful life?

This is the question that’s been burning a hole in my brain for the past few weeks as I’ve set off around Australia in Walter the Campervan.

You see, it’s great to say “I want to live a soulful life” but then reality comes crashing in, carrying with it an avalanche of fears.

I left just over four weeks ago and — let me get really raw and honest with you here — I’ve run into a few (metaphorical) road-blocks. My emotions have been like some kind of wild rollercoaster.

One day I’m all like: “My life is freaking awesome!”
And then the next it’s more like: “Oh. My. God. What have I done?”

This is what happens when we step out of our comfort zone, right?

In one corner of the ring we have the fearful ego shouting all the things that are likely to go wrong, urging us to get back into the safety of our comfort zone. In the other corner we’ve got the soul, quietly and lovingly guiding us forward to something greater and better, even though at times it feels risky, wild, scary and unknown.

So how do we balance the two and get them to play nice?

I’ve had a few thousand kilometres worth of driving to ponder this question and I reckon it starts with just one little thing. Recorded in the back of Walter the Campervan, in this video I’m sharing the one thing I’ve been doing to create harmony between my soul-self and my thinking-self.

Oh, and keep scrolling down as there’s a whole lot of links to awesome soul-treats below and some photos of my adventure so far.

Are you on a soulful journey too? What tips or tricks do you have for balancing these two opposing forces? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.

    Alana… You beautiful being…
May your journey in Walter, thrive just as much as the words coming from your soul
I adore this and the fact that in such honest, non-scripted moments, your words bribg auch truth.
And thankyou for the breathtaking photos, their simplicity brings auch fulfillment ✨

My journey is continuing deeper on this glorious path, and continuing to feel, embrace and learn all that is being thrown my way. In particular, releasing a level of “love” Id not expected, yet continued to find home in. He was not my forever, but he was my “for now”… And that too, has its repercussions of learnings and depth.

    Bless your soul lovely lady.
    Continue to spread your magic.
    We feel it ☺️

    Love to you

Ah, thank you for your well-wishes, love. It’s so incredible to hear and know that there are many other women, all going through the same things, all at different stages in their journey. It is so nice to be able to support each other. I hope you are holding up okay during this transition. Sometimes it’s bumpy, but well worth it. Big love to you xx

    Hello Alana,
What beautiful words of expression and wisdom. Thank you for sharing your experience and encouragement, and those breathtaking photographs!
I have been choosing the soul self and encountering opposition within and outside myself. Trusting the feelings in my body help me connect to my soul self. That tug in my heart and solar plexus – and a kind of internal satisfyingly heavy calm feeling – told me that I need to make a change that my thinking self (and most of the people in my life) questions. Yet this change (as crazy as it seems to conventional thinking) is in alignment with my dreams. In the short term, however, I need to be gentler and more supportive with my body and time. To renew a routine of meditation, movement, rest, and to get out my journal each morning (with a lovely cuppa) and connect with my ultra feisty, caring guides!

Oh, trusting the wisdom in your body! Yes! So important. Your ritual of meditation, movement and rest sounds perfect. And oh yes, journaling. So so incredibly healing. Sounds just perfect, Bronwen.
